"the world's most hated pop"

You guys. YOU GUYS. Slate is doing a series on prog this week.

"Correction, Aug. 15, 2012: This article mistakenly named Bill Bruford as a founding member of Asia."

Dear lord. I almost wonder if that wasn't on purpose.

I don't really know how he's meaning to explore his themes without loldfield or Italian and German bands, who, it seems to me, really drove the change, or the large orchestral type bands that emerged at the end of the 60s and start of the 70s. Though I see he's involving some Dutch ones (lol Kayak though).

Yeah it's really an article about English prog and it would have been nice if it had been stated as such at the outset. It's almost kind of hipster in tone which annoys me a bit, but then again I'm not the demographic it's meant to attract, I'm thinking.

Yeah, you're right about the hipster tone. I just really dislike when they act like a genre is SO ENGLISH when it really, really isn't *cough*glam rock*cough*.

Why he's excluding loldfield though, I REALLY don't know, he's like a symbol of the movement.
